Diego Rivera was a world famous Mexican artist, perhaps the greatest Mexican painter of the twentieth century. At the age of twenty, he established himself as an artist. His art exuded vivid colors, simple forms, and focused on real life subject matter. His art also included tributes to earthly folk traditions and featured a significant Aztec influence. Rivera also obtained much fame and acclamation for his murals. His murals depicted scenes of Mexican history and were done as frescoes. His art has been exhibited all over the world and to this day it is exhibited in galleries all across the country.
Rivera was married to the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, with whom he had a troublesome relationship. He also had a fame for being a womanizer. He was involved in the Mexican Communist Party and was a founder of the Revolutionary Union of Technical Workers, painters and Sculptors. For his art and his artistic contributions, Rivera is still considered one of the great Latin American artists and one of its folk heroes.
